For 45 years, Dr. Lew Brown has served the citizens of North Carolina. As he retired from UNCG, the state offered its thanks by honoring Brown with The Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award, the state’s highest civilian award.
Dr. Brown has brought innovative methods into the classroom to better serve his students. He is a pioneer in experience-based education, and his model of using hands-on consulting projects to help students learn the complexities of marketing is being incorporated throughout the Bryan School’s curriculum. Not only are these projects valuable to the students, but they also provide tangible benefits to participating companies and serve as a valuable resource to our region’s economic vitality. – Dr. McRae C. Banks, dean of the Bryan School, who nominated Brown for the honor.
