We recommend you meet with a Career Counselor to discuss your job/internship search strategy.  Please keep in mind that your job or internship search can be a lengthy process, so it’s important for you to begin planning and preparing early.  Also, if you’re seeking a summer internship, please keep in mind that some companies begin recruiting as early as the fall semester for summer interns.  Begin preparing early so that you won’t miss out on some great opportunities!  The same thing goes for your full-time job search.  Some companies recruit May graduates as early as the fall semester.

There is another online resources to help you with your job/internship search:

  • SpartanCareers: Search for internships, part-time jobs, full-time jobs, graduate assistantships, on-campus work study and non-work study jobs, on-campus recruiting opportunities, and more.

As an undergraduate student, in what year should I consider doing an internship?

You can do an internship as early as your freshman year. However, most students will complete internships during their junior and senior years. If companies only want students in certain years to apply, they will usually note that in the internship position descriptions.

Can I do multiple internships throughout my academic studies, and when can internships be conducted?

Yes.  There is no limit to the number of internships you are allowed to complete during your studies.  Companies seek interns during the fall, spring, and summer.
