Threads 10th Anniversary Fashion Show


On Saturday, March 21 2015 in downtown Greensboro, surrounded by fellow fashion enthusiasts, the 10th Annual Threads Fashion Show took over The Empire Room. It was “bursting at the seams with creativity, fashion, and talent” said Megan Young of Yes! Weekly. The room, lined with chairs surrounding a rectangular catwalk, was beautifully decorated, and perfect for showcasing the collections of in the UNCG consumer, apparel, and retail studies (CARS) programs.

Bryan School Students Receive “Spartans of Promise” Award

The UNCG Alumni Association has created a new award for senior students.

Ten seniors will receive inaugural Spartan of Promise awards Thursday, Oct. 30, at UNCG’s Alumni of Distinction dinner.

The “Spartans of Promise” award recognizes outstanding seniors at UNCG who demonstrate exceptional achievement in both academic and service endeavors. Up to ten students can receive it each year.

Alejandro Moreno – From UNCG to ESPN

At UNCG, Alejandro Moreno was a star student-athlete. Now at ESPN, he is a star analyst – one of the network’s most recognizable faces for World Cup coverage.

Moreno is calling matches and providing analysis in the studio. Moreno was a four-time First Team All-Region selection and a four-time All-Conference recipient. He led the Spartans in goals all four years of his career, 1998-2001. In his 11-year professional career, he played for three Major League Soccer champion teams.

CARS graduate student Hongjoo Woo received the Sarah Douglas Fellowship for Professional Promise at the International Textile and Apparel Association (ITAA) 2012 Annual Conference in Hawaii.

CARS graduate student Hyo Jung Chang received the Lois Dickey Fellowship at the ITAA 2012 Annual Conference.
